CONFERENCE TITLE: Cognitive approach in learning written language

TOPICS

This conference will tackle different aspects of learning written language using four topics:

•  Written words identification.

•  Written words or text comprehension.

•  Graphical gesture production.

•  Orthographic production.

Results of the researches leaded until now allow us to have a more precise view of the processings involved but one can however regret the fact that they most of the time stay apart and that they are not interested in the way the specifities of the writing (grapho-phonological, morphological, syntactical...) interact into the setting of these habilities. This conference will be an opportunity to bring a new point of view on the maner the learners learn written language.

LANGUAGE

Communications could be done in french or in english.

TOPICS AND SUBMISSION PROCESS OF PROPOSALS

We are inviting you to submit communication proposals in the following fields:

•  involved processings in the setting of the reading process : from written words identification to written words or text comprehension ;

•  involved processings in the setting of written word production procedures : from graphical gesture to orthographic code.

Proposals will have to present data from observations/experimentations involving one or more languages. They could address children or adults populations learning a first or a second language. Studies lead on atypical populations (auditive deficients, intelectual deficients, motor deficients, people presenting troubles in learning written words) would also be appreciated.

Each proposal (for an oral or displayed communication) will be sent at colloque-ecrit@wanadoo.fr in rtf format and will have to contain :

A first page with the following informations :

•  nature of the submission requested by the authors : oral communication vs displayed communication,

•  names of the authors and their affiliation,

•  postal and email addresses of the first author as well as his phone number,

•  title (in French and in English)

•  keywords list (in French and in English)

A second page containing the title and the text of the proposal (600 words maximum – in French or in English).

PROCEEDINGS PUBLICATION

Communications will be submited to an evaluation comitee in order to be published by the Presses Universitaires de Rennes (PUR) in february 2007.
